February 07, 1952 Director of Marketing / Chef Married 1 1
Can't believe that 40 years have slipped by when we were all busy doing something else. I am sorry to miss the reunion this time - I'll be in Maryland teaching beginning the week before Easter.
Moved to Tampa in 1974 & each time I travel, it is still a nice place to call home.
My days are spent as director of marketing & business development for an architecture & interior design firm. Four to six times a month I teach cooking at two local schools.
In 2002, I was accepted at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris - the classes were conducted in French and with about 15 trips to France the last 19 years & three semesters of French in 1992, I passed with no blood shed. A few tears the first week as I was paired with "pyscho chef" & it was a challenge to pay close attention so I could learn everything. (This was a personal goal, no ambitions at all to work in a restaurant kitchen.) I was the only student out of 24 in my courses that didn't have commercial kitchen experience, except interviewing chefs in their kitchens - the chefs resented I hadn't spent time in a hot kitchen every day. I'd been a food & wine writer for seven years, which is what convinced me to apply. Happy to report superior ratings & Chef gave me a big hug at graduation!
Bill & I will celebrate 19 years of marriage in August. He's happily retired & busy.

March 13, 1952 Senior Pastor www.gbbconline.com Married 4 5 with 2 on the way!
Never thought we'd leave Sarasota. All four of our children were born there and we had a great position as Associate Pastor at Faith Baptist Church (then on Bee Ridge Road) for over 15 years. But after our 20th SHS Reunion, Butch Walker arranged for me to fill the pulpit at the church they attended in Fruitland Park which was  without a pastor, and well, the rest is history as they say. We just celebrated 19 years here as pastor on March 14th. Check out our church website and drop us a line sometime! Send George a MessageSend George a Message

February 02, 1952 Meteorologist-Journalist www.earthweek.com Committed Relationship
Howdy! After starting a career in TV weather in Sarasota at Channel 40 (now 7) in the early 70s, I moved up and down the dial in Chicago, Syracuse, Sacramento and Dallas.  Finally wound up in San Francisco for 20 years, where I also ran a private weather consulting company.  A silly little idea for a syndicated newspaper column 24 years ago finally allowed me to semi-retire and move back to a small horse ranch near Dallas in 2004. I’ve shared my life with another cowboy here for the past 6 years. You might have seen Earthweek - A Diary of the Planet in the Herald Tribune until they dropped it during cutbacks a couple of years ago.   I’ve been hit pretty badly by the AIDS epidemic.  I’ve lost three of my last four partners and countless friends to it, but am blessed to have escaped it myself. Those losses taught me how important it is to follow your passions and bliss.  So, in addition to being a TV weather wrangler for 30 years, I became a rodeo cowboy, private pilot and even a long-haul trucker for a couple of years. A SF media critic once wrote that “Steve is going through the Village People costumes faster than anyone I’ve ever seen.”  This will be my first reunion, so I am really looking forward to seeing everybody.     Send Steve a MessageSend Steve a Message
