Looking forward to celebrating our 50th reunion! I don’t get to Sarasota very often since my parents passed away. I just don’t remember what a beautiful city it is until I come back. And I’m certainly looking forward to seeing everyone. A great big thanks to the reunion committee!

2019:Since my last entry, 10 years ago, I have moved to Vermont where I served St. Stephen's Episcopal Church as rector for 6 years. Then I retired, Hooray!!!!! I could now describe myself as a mother (daughter, 18, and a first year student at the University of Rhode Island; son, 12, and a middle-school student who is becoming a jazz trombone and piano player). By the way, retiring with minor children throws Pension Groups into a tizzy. Then, I am a lesbian (single alas), vegan, organic hemp farmer. Could you get more left than that? My sisters and I inherited a farm (about 270 acres) very near my home in Vermont. I manage it for the family and this year, as a retired person, I planted our first, experimental, hemp crop. Hemp is legal in Vermont. Actually, Marijuana is legal to but, well, I have a 18 year old so I am steering clear of that plant. We are not rushing to market. Instead, I am learning the trade as a grower. We are hoping to produce by Christmas, or perhaps Easter, some useful CBD hand cream for all our relatives and friends whose hands, like ours, are aching with old age. This is all by way of kitchen laboratory. Sharon, my sister who visited last week, and I did our first home chromatography chemistry test on the hemp to see how much CBD was in that portion of the crop. Last year I purchased my deceased aunt's condo in Sarasota Village Garden. Right now, it is in a lease rental. However, when my son finishes high school, I plan to begin the time-honored tradition of being a "Snow Bird," spending the worst winter months away from this rather cold place and reconnecting with my Sarasota friends in a more meaningful way. See you in May. Susan 2009: This is from Susan McGarry. Well, what to say of my life? I am a 57 (almost) year old spinster (having lost my spouse Bonnie 20 years ago to Lupus, and can LGBT people be spinsters?) Episcopal priest with two small children. My children are 9 and 2 in age. Eleanore (Lean), the oldest, is from Kunming, China and Thomas is from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. This part of my life I am clearly doing backwards. My sisters both have grown sons and are off doing interesting things in their lives. Sharon is going off to do medical missions in Guatemala, Belarus, and Rwanda. Though I lived two years of my life in Jerusalem and had extended residencies in Germany and Costa Rica, I am definitely staying home these days. I serve a small congregation in Ann Arbor, MI called St. Aidan's (www.staidan.org). I also spent probably more years in a PhD program than anyone alive. I would try to enter it in the Guinness Book of Records except I am too embarrassed. I did, however, finally nail the thing. On the 23rd of December 2008 (remember I am a minister), I uploaded into cyber space my dissertation with the somewhat ungainly title of, "Divine Wrath: Its Rhetorical Use by the Contemporary Writers of Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel for Social Control in the Aftermath of Jerusalem’s Destruction." So now I am a phid or something like that. My family is living and loving life. We are tightening our belts with financial set-backs. Non-profits follow the financial fortunes of everyone else and here in Michigan, though we are trying mightily, we still are ranked 50th of the 50 states economically. It is quite a distinction. I am excited about coming to the reunion. I seldom get back to Florida. I look forward to seeing you all. Susan |

Although I still live right here in Sarasota, I've lost track of everyone. I look forward to getting reacquainted at the reunion.I retired just over a year ago after 18 years as Chief Engineer for Cox Radio in Tampa. Although I'm retired I'm still doing a lot of contract radio/TV engineering throughout the southeast. Keeping busy at what I still enjoy, 53 years after my start at WKXY in 1967 |

Tom and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary last July. We have been in South Carolina 12 1/2 years now and we still love it here. I am semi-retired from Publix Pharmacy and Tom still does preventative maintenance for the Greenville County School District. In 2015 we started our food trailer (Tom's Tasty Cafe) basically to give us something to keep us out of trouble when we finally retire. We take it out least 2 weekends a month to local events. We are also helping raise our great grandson. It is nice having a little one in the house again but slightly harder to keep up with :)

Even though I was only at SHS for a short while, it still holds a special place in my life. After high school, I went to Atlanta to nursing school. I worked there for about 4 years before I headed to Univ. of Virginia to obtain a master's degree in nursing. There, I met the man who would become my husband, Charley. We married in Durham, NC, and then went to California, where my first daughter Emily was born. After 4 years in the bay area, we moved to Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We lived there for 8 years--I began that period by having my second daughter, Katy, and ended it by obtaining my PhD in clinical psychology from the Univ. of Conecticut and delivering my third daughter, Melanie. We moved to New Orleans nearly 18 years ago and have stayed put since! Charley is a child psychiatrist, and we both are on the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Tulane Medical School; I work with medically ill children and also am the clinical director of a statewide nurse home visiting program that serves first time low income mothers. UPDATE 07/2019. Just back from my husband's 50th high school reunion, so motivated to find out what's happening w/SHS Class of 1970! Glad to see the dates are planned, and I certainly hope to be there. In the past 10 years, I'm stll working, took a position at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the College of Nursing and the Picard Center for Child Development, mostly research and teaching. I'm in Lafayette during the week and back in NOLA on weekends. Charley and I will celebrate 40 years this fall. And best of all, we've added 3 grandchildren since las check in. At this point, hoping to join the golden celebration (wow!)-
